linoleum prints & handmade goods inspired by the beautiful sierra nevada mountains
What is a linoleum print?
Linoleum prints are a form of relief printmaking that date back to as early as the 9th Century. The ancient printmaking process involves drawing an image, carving it out by hand with traditional tools and printing the relief carving on paper. Images can be carved into wood or linoleum (I mainly use linoleum and birch plywood).
This art form is a way to honor the history of printmaking and create beautiful artworks on paper. The relief carving is printed in multiples. All of my images are released in a limited edition series.
Meet the Maker
Founded by Kate Dedlow, Incense Cedar Studios grew from a lifetime of hiking and adventuring through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Kate graduated from art school in 2012 and has worked as an full-time artist for 15+ years. She has lived a life of immense experiences including picking up an axe and working as a firefighter. Now, she has returned to growing a collection of functional art for you and your home. Her work is intentional and handmade. Her prints are themed around the imagery of the mountains and her paintings explore where nature meets the city.
